Don’t Solve the Wrong Problem

Pressure creates movement. But movement without clarity can make the wrong problem even worse.

In this episode of Before the Pressure, Dr. Arnold Sanchez explores why strong leaders slow down long enough to diagnose before they act. The visible issue is not always the real issue, and solving the symptom can create more pressure instead of less.

In This Episode

  • Why pressure pushes leaders toward premature action
  • The difference between a symptom and a root problem
  • How proposed solutions can disguise the real issue
  • Why recurring problems often signal a deeper breakdown
  • How curiosity improves decision-making under pressure
  • Why clarity should come before correction

Today’s Pressure Prep

1. Define the problem in one sentence.
Complete this statement:

The actual problem we are trying to solve is ______.

Be specific enough that the issue becomes actionable.

2. Go one level deeper.
Ask:

What might be causing the problem I can currently see?

That one question may completely change the solution.

Reflection

Am I solving the problem—or am I simply reacting to the most visible symptom?

Remember:

Pressure demands action. Leadership demands diagnosis.

Slow down long enough to get the problem right.

Then move.
